The Lorax movie by Dr Seuss with the premiere of “An Island of Creative Children” @ Waiheke Cinema, Artworks This Sat 5th May Come and see how Waiheke children collaborated with community artists to learn different music/art techniques including different art forms from various cultural groups. Zebez Creative filmed and photographed the journey and would like to share with the community the wonderful learning process.
Timetable · 9am - Members of the Zebez cooperative at Incubator (opposite library) - artists and children show casing the materials and techniques used throughout the various workshops. FESTIVAL OF STORY, Story Centre @ Artworks, Oneroa Moving Stories What was your story of how you came to live on Waiheke? Moving Stories is a community storytelling and film project documenting our stories of arrival. It is generously supported by the Waiheke Community Board and Creative Communities. Catch us in May at the Ostend Markets on the 12th, 19th and 26th May and tell your story.
Festival The 7th Once Upon An Island Festival of Story takes place this year during the Queen’s birthday weekend 1 – 4th June. Join us on a magical mystery tour of the island on Daisy the red double decker bus, explore the sacred waterways of Waiheke or come and find the treasure of NZ’s very own historical pirate, Charlotte Badger. New Music Classes / Lessons
The Magic Music Box 2012 Music Classes for 0-7yrs with Kirsten Simmons
· Mon 23rd of April - Mon 25th June · There are three stages to the music classes: 1. 20mins of children creating and listening to rhythms and beat by exploring various quality sound producers presented in creative ways. They will develop their own sense of rhythm and beat which I will scaffold through repeating their individual responses back to them. 2. 10min music story 3. 20min learning simple rhythms and beat using the voice, percussion, drums, recorders and ukelele. · Children can come in and out of the session as they choose - the power of the child sponge for learning :) · Cost: $100 for 10 sessions paid at beginning of the term · Location: tbc · Contact Kirsten Simmons, zebezcreative@gmail.com or ph 027 813 1693 or 372 7195 · Check out facebook/zebezcreative for the full range of services zebez has to offer children on the Island!

Teenagers Class · Tues: 4pm-5.15pm · Cost: $10 per session · An opportunity for teenagers to strengthen their bodies and minds. To learn techniques that will help them cope with the stress of exams and also help to improve focus, concentration and improve memory. Another great benefit is that it helps with injury prevention in sport.
Beginners Class · Tues: 7pm-8.30pm · Cost: $15 per session · Come and learn how to Breath through life – Transformational Yoga to increase flexibility, strength and reduce stress. A complete course offering postures, breathing, relaxation and meditation.
Meditation Course · Weds: 7pm-8pm · Cost: $15 per session · An opportunity to learn meditation techniques that will enable you to clear and focus the mind and expand your consciousness.
